Summer Break

I'm taking a bit of a blogging break--but there's still plenty going on!

God has made it clear to me that I need to take a little blogging break.

Big Guy and I have hit one of those rough patches—not in our marriage, thankfully, but in life. He has been out of work for a while, which has affected our finances and stress. We have some decisions to make about how we can best move forward, and it looks like we may have to make some significant changes that will involve some difficult transitions for both of us.

Not only do I need my time and mind freed up right now to do some work which brings in a small bit of income, I need to be able to refresh myself so I can better support my husband and tend to our marriage.

I will continue to post here. Instead of trying to write something new, however, for the rest of the summer I will be inviting you to look into my archives and at older posts on other blogs. Each week I’ll post a list of links relating to a different theme.

There are so many great resources to encourage you in marriage, sexuality, wholeness, and healing, and I’m excited to introduce you to some of them.

Speaking of resources . . .

While I’m on the subject of resources, I want to remind you of three great resources that are close to my heart.

1. Understanding Your Sex Drive – webinar

Next week, our Sex Chat for Christian Wives podcast is hosting a webinar for wives who want to better understand their own sexual desire and response. I wrote a post about it, and you can learn more at our webinar page. We’re so excited to be able to share with you. Replays will be available, so if you aren’t sure you can make it, you can still sign up and then watch it later. Also, be sure to check out the rest of the webinar series. We’ll have one in September about foreplay, and then in November we’re going to talk with husbands about your sex drive.

2. Honeycomb & Spice community

Sometimes we need encouragement and information from others as we learn and grow, even when it comes to sex. Since I invited you to join the community a couple months ago, we’ve been slowly growing. We have a new Accountability Circle, a sort of community within the community especially for women who want support as they take steps to grow the sexual intimacy in their marriage. You can visit my new website Honeycomb & Spice for more information, or you can visit the community directly to join.

3. My guest post for J

I recently wrote a guest post at Hot, Holy & HumorousThe Secret Sex Lives of Real Wives. I lift the veil on some aspects of female sexual response that many of us don’t fully realize about ourselves. Even better, I have some tips for husbands to help them make the most of you having a female sexual response. It’s a great post to share with your husband.

Can you help?

Meanwhile, I’d love to ask for your prayers for my family. Big Guy and I are really struggling, and I’m so grateful that we’re struggling together rather than separately. We can tell when we are being lifted in prayer. We suddenly feel peace and comfort surround us, and we can see the many small ways God is taking care of us.

We would appreciate prayers for provision for us, for employment for Big Guy, and for clear direction and peace about our future.

If you would like to help us in a more tangible way, visit my Support The Forgiven Wife page. You’ll find lots of links for shopping that give me a bit of commission, including a link to my recommendations on Amazon.

You can also make a direct donation.

If you’d like to make a one-time contribution, you can do so through PayPal or by sending a personal check to me at P.O. Box 2061, Waukesha, WI 53187.

If you are interested in making a monthly donation, you can do so either through PayPal or through Patreon.

Even though my voice will be quiet here on the blog, I’ll still be speaking up on the podcast and in the Honeycomb & Spice community.

May God bless you and your marriage!

  1. Dear Chris,

Please know you and Big Guy are in our prayers. In this day and age though, not having – but needing – 2 incomes can be catastrophic.

Also, I don’t know what kind of skills your husband has, but, if you’re willing to re-locate to Middle Tennessee, this section of the country is booming! In the recent few years, several major companies have re-located here. Trades and Labor jobs are in great demand as are professional, white-collar people.

This area is the home to several health-related (medical insurance to hospitals and everything in between) organizations. Major automobile manufacturers are located here as are many of their suppliers. Plus, another benefit is that there’s ZERO income tax, except on investment income.

And (speaking as one “Yankee” to another), if you’d like to be in the middle of the “Bible Belt” this is the place to be. Life’s paces are a bit slower, here. “Most” people are more friendly (not all); most actually look you in the eyes when they pass you on the street and say “Hi!” or nod at you, recognizing your presence.

I fully understand the draw to remain “at home,” but sometimes God has other plans for us and “re-locating” is a part of His plan for us. My wife and I have had to “re-locate” a few times and each time we felt God was involved in the move and He blessed us each time.

    Just throwing it out there…

    Kevin

  2. Hi Chris,
I understand being in a place of looking to God for daily bread, literally but I encourage you to remember He is always faithful to provide. Prayed for provision for you and your family, for employment for Big Guy, and for clear direction and peace about your future. He will make the vision clear for you.
Your sister in the faith journey,
    Deandra

    1. Thank you for the prayers. I have seen many small signs of God’s faithfulness, every single day. Even in a difficult situation the other day, we could see His hand in the ways we were able to respond to the situation.

  3. I pray doors are opened for y’all and as you’re going through this trail that you are abundantly blessed.

  4. Praying for some amazing new changes that will bring you and your sweetie the needed income.
